Paine Castle Foundation
The mission of the Paine Castle Foundation is to renovate, preserve, and protect the historic Paine Mansion at 49 Second Street in Troy, NY (aka “The Castle”), and to educate the public regarding historical architecture.
In its 125 years, The Castle has been a private home, a university administration building, fraternity house, gathering place, and motion picture set. Over 1,000 people have lived here, and many, many thousands more have visited and enjoyed its splendor.
In spite of over a century of continuous, heavy use, the building is stunningly well-preserved. Nevertheless, to survive another century, The Castle needs some love and investment. Our goal is to restore her to her original glory and to make that glory available to future generations.
Through the Castle150 capital campaign, the Foundation will raise over $2 million to renovate and restore the Castle, and to provide an endowment for its future upkeep. The result will be an authentic Gilded Age home to be used as a center for education, culture, and the arts.
The mission of the Paine Castle Foundation is to support the historic restoration and maintenance of “The Castle” at 49 Second Street, Troy, NY and to educate the public regarding historic preservation.
The Foundation is governmed by an independendent Board of Directors who love the Castle and devote their efforts to raising money for its preservation. Interested in getting involved? Contact us!
Castle150 Capital Campaign
We are raising over $2 million to renovate, preserve, protect, and endow The Castle. The campaign began in mid-2020, with the goal of raising all funds necessary for a complete renovation of the house by the end of 2025.
The response has been amazing - within the first year, we have achieved almost one third of our goal! As of 2024 we’ve raised and subsequently restored $900,000 worth of projects.
