Dietrich Rides Again! Starring Justyna Kostek with Malcolm Kogut on Piano

Dietrich Rides Again

A life's journey through memory and music

Starring Justyna Kostek

Malcolm Kogut on Piano

Direct from New York City

Marlene Dietrich: International movie star, product of the sexual and cultural experiment of Weimar Berlin, artistic partner and muse of Josef Von Sternberg, who made her the latest adornment to Hollywood's Golden Age, a pioneering practitioner of "gender fluidity," unbending opponent of Hitler and his Nazis, front line entertainer with the US Army in WWII, a friend of Hemingway, a lover of men and women. She stood up to bullies. She wore the pants. Justyna Kostek, born the year Dietrich died, inhabits all these Dietrichs through songs as indelibly associated with the great star as Falling In Love Again, from The Blue Angel. Get ready, Troy, for a date with quicksilver allure and European sophistication, with the history, the struggle, the comedy and humor, of a feminine icon of enduring strength back in the saddle and riding high!

ONE NIGHT ONLY

Saturday, July 23, 2022, 7 PM

The Castle, 49 Second St, Troy

Harvest & Halloween Open House

The Annual Harvest Tour (October 2021) of the Paine mansion welcomed approximately 150 members of the community for free tours. The foyer, parlor, and dining room were decorated for Fall as it may have appeared in 1896 – subtle Fall leaves, pumpkins, candles, and floral arrangements. A custom carved faux pumpkin was inscribed with “Paine Castle” and lit up on a table in the center of the foyer.

Just for children, the center room of the home added some special Halloween ambiance from 2021 - orange lights and decorations for the 10 and younger trick-or-treaters who got the chance to scoop up “goodies” in various locations on the first floor. As the adults viewed the architectural details and heard about the history of the house, the children certainly enjoyed searching for candy!
